I am on a Beatles kick tonight quite unexpectedly but went a different way…

The Beatles - Meet the Beatles (from The Capital Albums Vol. 1)

My parents didn’t have any Beatles records in their collection. I had a copy of 20 Greatest Hits and the White Album on cassette. My dad was stationed in Japan for a year when I was in middle school and he came home with tapes of the CDs of Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow Submarine. He told me they were all the hits which was bizarre to me when I was older, it wasn’t until I was much older that I realized if he and my mom did hear The Beatles growing up (my mom certainly did as both her brothers had Beatles vinyl), it was these weird alternate reality versions.

Edit: it dawns on me as I listen to the stereo mix that I know why hard panning doesn’t bother me as much as it does some of you guys. I spent a lot of time in college and young adulthood listening to the weird original stereo mixes of the Beatles.

Edit edit: man the masters used for this are all over the place. It’s kind of jarring especially in headphones.
