Really dig this soul album from Numero (think it was pitched as some kind of black Astral Weeks but it's not quite that), and a new disc of sweet Poly-Rythmo sounds.
Sonny Rollins - Way Out West (Contemporary Records, 1958 First UK Mono Pressing)
I managed to get this at a good price the other week because of the damage to the cover. The record itself is in super good shape without any pops or surface noise. And what a fantastic pressing it is! I have the Way Out West Deluxe box from Craft and while I like the extra LP with alternative takes, I do potentially think this first UK pressing packs more of a punch.
Tina Brooks - The Complete Blue Note Recordings Of The Tina Brooks Quintets (Mosaic, 1985 First Limited Box Set)
Today would have been saxophonist Tina Brooks' 89th birthday. Its a crying shame how little of his music was released during his lifetime, but luckily Mosiac compiled all of his Blue Note recordings as lead and released them in this killer box set.
Miles Davis - Porgy And Bess (Fontana/Columbia, 1959 First UK Pressing)
This one never seems to get the same recognition as others in Davis' discogrpahy. I have to admit that it isn't my favourite, but I still really enjoy it.
