Not sure to be honest, i've never taken it out of the frame. It's signed by that iteration of the band, one of the local record stores out here (Lous Records!) did a drawing for it when Dirty South came out, and I got lucky. Definitely a prized possession.
Gerry Mulligan - The Age Of Steam (A&M Records, 1972 First UK Pressing)
There are a couple of jazz birthdays today starting with Gerry Mulligan. In his biography Mulligan states that his recordings with the 'Age Of Steam' group were his favourite, so it seemed right to play this one today. Also.....his hair game is strong on this cover!
Charlie Rouse / Paul Quinichette - The Chase Is On (Bethlehem Records, 1958 First Mono Sample Pressing)
And the second jazz birthday is Charlie Rouse! This album is my favourite by him and perhaps up there as one of my favourite jazz albums period, its certainly one which I see as flying under the radar.
