Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

That said though, it'd be a completely crazy coincidence if the person asked for the Score as a replacement and that happened to be EXACTLY the time that they repress it. When's the last time they did that record? I don't remember it since I joined over a year ago. I'm guessing they had a couple laying around and obliged them.

anyone heard anything about an upcoming throwback thursday drop? Just checking Reddit and saw someone is getting Gabor Szabo, Fugees and Grandaddy on a shipping order and not sure how that is a thing?
I can't even begin to guess how that redditer pulled it off, but in the past 6 months or so, Throwback Thursdays have fallen on the third Thursday of the month. But because of the holidays, VMP pushed up its ROTM announcement to the third Thursday (December 16) so my guess is there'll either be a Throwback Thursday tomorrow instead or they just skip it this month,

I think the Redditor had placed a Throwback Thursday order that got lost in shipment, so CS obliged as a way to smooth over the interaction.

Good on the redditor for asking for comparable items.

My understanding was that they had ordered something from a previous Throwback Thursday and it was lost in the mail or something so the poster sent VMP customer service a request and requested that, if possible, they replace their previous lost order (which was now sold out) with any of the albums listed the OP would be grateful. Customer service ended up sending out copies of those 3 listed albums as replacements though none were apart of the TBT or currently in stock.

Looks like reddit figured out how to order out of stock items directly from shopify (maybe accessing replacement stock?). Wonder how long it's going to take to fix that or start cancelling orders as more people figure out this exploit.
i saw that too. it doesn't access replacement stock. it accesses inventory for records that are not on sale in the store but you are able to "join with" and swap titles

It's reddit...They are prob more conserned about bragging than actually using it to their own advantage.
BUT GOD FORBID YOU POINT OUT THAT THE SIGUR ROS ALBUM THAT IS GONNA BE PRESSED AT GZ AND SOUND LIKE A HORSES ASS CAN BE FOUND IN A BEAUTIFUL SOUNDING, PRESSED AT PALLAS PACKAGE FOR LESS THAN A VMP MEMBERSHIP OR ELSE DOWNVOTES FOR YOU!

*deep breath*

there's no sense in posting on the reddit anymore. fanboys are gonna be fanboys. this has happened to me on reddit vinylcollector wantposts too. i've pointed out numerous times to people that they shouldn't spend $150 on a color variant of an album when a black vinyl copy pressed at a better plant is available for $20. most of the time, the people say thanks but i want the color version....

I think I joined VMP at it's peak to be honest and the reddit sub is a very good representation of that shift. When I joined it was about great exclusives that you couldn't really find anywhere else, and even when you could the VMP version were usually pretty stellar. I noticed during my year+ or so membership that people seem less concerned about getting a great exclusive, or hell even sound quality and it's more "what cool colour splatter does it come in?". Some dude talking about Good Kid Maad City yesterday even said "I didn’t sign up to VMP to get a standard black release." He was downvoted, but I think that's actually representative of the club as a whole at this point. Music is secondary, a really cool package is the selling point.

Around the time the VMP forums were nuked some voiced concerns that VMP was heading in a direction where they were basically another Newbury Comics with the emphasis on color variants than quality or exclusivity.

I think it's safe to say that is exactly what came to pass.
