U-Turn Orbit issue

So nice had a U-Turn Orbit for quite some time now and I’ve only increasingly become aware of an issue with the platter spinning. Whenever I turn it on, there is a consistent clicking sound as the table spins. Normally I can just turn the sound up and ignore that sound, but lately I’ve notice a wobble in pitch playing some of my records. I’m nowhere near a tech expert on turntables, so excuse the bad terminology here…

What should I do to check here the problem lies? Can I fix it myself? Because I know I’m out of warranty.

Take off the elastic band and lift out the sub platter. There should be a hole there where the spindle sits into, that’s the bearing. About 6 drops of oil should do it. Sewing machine oil is the same stuff they use in turntable and the best value for money. If the noise is from the bearing that should sort it. If the noise is from the motor I’d contact u-turn support as they suggest on their website that might be time to replace it.

I had the same clicking issue and it was in the motor.

Take off the elastic band and lift out the sub platter. There should be a hole there where the spindle sits into, that’s the bearing. About 6 drops of oil should do it. Sewing machine oil is the same stuff they use in turntable and the best value for money. If the noise is from the bearing that should sort it. If the noise is from the motor I’d contact u-turn support as they suggest on their website that might be time to replace it.

U-turn uses an inverted bearing that doesn’t require lubrication.

2. When was the last time you changed the belt?

3. As @Joe Mac said contact u-turn. I’ve heard lots of stories of them taking care of stuff even outside of warranty, but even if there is a cost, I imagine it will be reasonable.

I think the warble and clicking are from the belt/motor. Mine was a rhythmic ticking that didn't speed up or slow down with the belt in different positions.

For what it's worth it was a super easy swap from the part they sent. Unplug the wires from the harness and 3-4 for screws on the deck and the deed was done. Can't imagine it's a very expensive part either.

I believe so as well but no harm in seeing if free solutions fix the issue.

This is probably what I’ll end up doing — taking the belt off and turning it on, it’s definitely the motor. I’ll email U-Turn at some point and see if I can get that fix just like you said
