Day 2 - Inside Out: A Personal History of Pink Floyd - Nick Mason
Play something nice, polite or unaggressive
OR
Play something by Pink Floyd or maybe some psych rock.

I had something lined up to post last night but the site was having a moment and I couldn't get in.

Welp, look what showed up in the mail today...

Bruce Springsteen - Darkness On The Edge Of Town

Patti grew up in New Jersey like Bruce and in 1978, the year he released Darkness, he was very prolific from a songwriting standpoint, in fact he had so many songs that he would later release The Promise which was a compilation of many of the unreleased songs from that era. Amongst those was a song he co-wrote with Patti, that would appear on her 1978 album, Easter but it really wouldn’t become a hit until it became a hit single for the 10,000 Maniacs in 1993 from their MTV Unplugged performance.

I found this a little tame and polite. But as a Pink Floyd fan I loved reading the history, even without any gossip or crazy stories of drug use or infighting.

This one has been my on and off favorite. Sounds great today...

I remember feeling FOMO not being at this show, however, that night I was at one of the greatest Pearl Jam shows I've attended -- Night 3 of the Philadelphia Spectrum run. Love this rendition with U2, Bruce & Patti.

Day 4 - Beastie Boys Book - Michael Diamond and Adam Horovitz

Play some Beasties or some hip-hop

This was a great read. I'll have to check out the audiobook.

And as its May the 4th, this one seems appropriate.

Day 1 - Hard to Handle: The Life and Death of The Black Crowes - Steve Gorman w/ Stephen Hyden

I really enjoyed this book. I read most of it while waiting for my wife at physical therapy after one of her knee surgeries, so it'll always remind me of that particular waiting room.

Play something that reminds you of a specific point in your life

In 2004 I took a road trip down to California with a couple friends from the Rockies, who eventually convinced me to head down the Baja with them for an additional 7 weeks after our concerts and festivals were done. The night before we crossed into Mexico we hit up a Best Buy at a random mall in San Diego and I was able to pick up a copy of this on release day. My traveling companions had other shopping to do, but I just booked it back to the van and threw the new CD into my Discman and prepared to have my mind blown. I was halfway through a second listen by the time my friends came back, and it was easily my most heavily listened to CD during our 6 weeks tenting in a palapa on San Pedrito beach. Even now, almost half a lifetime later, this conjures a lot of memories of that time.
