Greetings!

My mom just unearthed a huge crate of records at her home in Florida. They’ve been stored in a climate controlled environment and she said they were well cared for in the 70s and 80s when she used them.

How should she ship this to me? I’m curious what you all think.

I’m attaching photos of the crate and list of albums. There are a lot of these that will end up on the pay it forward thread once I go through all of them and clean them. I’m also curious if you see any potential diamonds in the rough. Haha.

Hmm, that's tough, I'm sure someone will chime in with a suggestion, but I gotta say, that Peaches crate brings back a lot of memories :)

Gratz on the haul, some nice albums on that list (y)

To qualify for Media Mail, they’d have to be boxed separately from the wooden crate.

In the crate, I’d say UPS ground, but honestly, the cost might be more than the value of the records.

Could they not be in the crate? As far as I know the only stipulations for media mail is that it is media and there is a 70lb limit. I'm not sure if they'd make a problem about the crate.

Also, I've mentioned it before, but look into having Greyhound send it if you don't care about speed. You box it up exactly how you like it and bring it and pick it up from bus terminal. I used it for about 6 boxes of books in the past and it was way cheaper than any other service.

Honestly, I can’t say for sure the crate would be rejected. They might accept it as packing. I suppose it couldn’t hurt to try. I would probably double box it.
