Restoring scratched dust covers?

I bought my first used turntable about a half a year ago and it works pretty well, but the dust cover is pretty scratched up, including some deep ones.

Can anyone here that had dealt with getting scratches out share some tips/methods?

I am perfectly happy with the turntable, if there isnt much I can do.

Depending on the model, there’s a number of third party replacements you might be able to order.

You could try and wetsand it out using ultra fine paper, but the risk of making it worse is as high or better than fixing it.

You could try the cheap fix for cloudy/yellow headlights- toothpaste and elbow grease. Lots and lots of elbow grease.

Or one of those headlight restorer kits from the auto parts store. Test on a small corner in the back so any damage isn't too noticeable.

I've used the Novus 3-step to good effect. It's not cheap, but it's useful to have for other plastic stuff that needs polishing. You use it like sandpaper grits, so unlike the other automotive products there are various "grits" to choose from to deal with the scratches. Just be careful not to polish any metal logo plates if you have any, not that I may have done that....
