Pre-Order Thread

Long-awaited Superdrag re-press. Big day!

I had to grab this from the Elektra 75 list and that Eels reissue.
Wonder what the full list of Elektra reissues titles will be. Would definitely grab Gentlemen, though a bit concerned as I think this album is pushing 50 minutes
i think the last reissue a couple years ago was 2xLP wasn’t it?

I have this one…
It’s a single disc but it sounds pretty good to me perhaps you have to crank the volume a bit but nothing crazy.

Just because I keep mentioning it and it’s not in the last couple pages, here’s that Eels preorder (red vinyl):

It’s the drink of choice for your hip grungy Friends…

Alexa played a podcast episode of something about Zima this morning. I got a whole 15 minute or so back story on it.

It was created coming out of the 80's where a health trend was to make drinks clear removing artificial coloring. Pepsi clear was also created around this time. It was also an alternative to wine coolers which were also popular at this time.

Coors marketed Zima to men, and spent a lot of money on this. They even made sure it was in a complete separate area from wine coolers in stores to differentiate it.

Their marketing was a miss though. Men didn't adapt it, and women ended up being the drinks base. They enjoyed the higher ABV compared to wine coolers. When women adapted the drink men wouldn't drink it because they saw it as women's drink / too feminine. It took Coors about two years to realize this and shift their target base to women.

Its demise had a lot to do with the uptick of teenagers drinking it. It was teenagers drink of choice because it was clear and didn't smell like alchcol. Easy to hide. It also when "viral" over a claim that it wouldn't be detectable on a breathalyzer test which was simply not true. But police departments and lawmakers had concerns and started passing laws. California for example passed a law taxing it like distilled spirits because it was clear to try to make it too expensive to be desirable for teenagers. Utah passed a law about labeling. All these complexities and concerns about teenagers, who loved Zima, especially with an added jolly rancher ultimately ended up with its demise.

Though it lives on in Japan! They even have a cherry blossom flavor! It occasionally gets a limited release. I think 2018 was the last time in the United States.

I know this got posted already, but i hadn't noticed these specs:

Through a partnership with Citizen Vinyl the project will also be available on limited edition double vinyl, with only 500 hand-numbered copies being offered.

Lacquer cuts were donated by Ryan Smith and Joe Nino-Hernes of Sterling Sound, and stampers were provided by Record Technology Inc. The pressing includes beautiful gatefold packaging, featuring photos by Anthony Mulcahy and design by Matt Pfahlert, who both also donated their creative talents to the project.

I can’t believe this is still available.

You should have heard how people described it on the podcast I was listening to. "Citrus flavored horse piss" is one description I remember said.
In high school my friends and I mostly drank beer though we would pretty much anything we ould get our underage mitts on.

Well, one night we were tying one on at my pals house with a 30 pack or Icehouse our Red Dog or whatever and I committed the party foul of projectile vomiting up the first beer I drank after shotgunning it. My punishment was that I was no longer allowed to drink beer until I was able to successfully “beer bong” a bottle of his mom’s Zima and keep it down thus proving that I could drink without wasting beer. It was a tough endeavor but I powered through and was able to continue on my quest to destroy more brain cells.
