NHL Thread Because There Isn't An NHL Thread

BREAKING 🚨

The NHL has suspended Evander Kane 21 regular-season games for violating the COVID-19 rules established by the league and the NHLPA. As a result, he'll be ineligible to play until Nov. 30.

In addition, the NHL did not find evidence to support Kane's estranged wife Anna's claims of domestic abuse, thereby ending the league's other investigation into the San Jose Sharks forward.

More to come.

I can’t tell whether the nhl has a boner for him or if he’s just determined to hose his career that like, many people would dream of having.
Shit one look at his financial history shows he's reckless as they come. Making that much and declaring bankruptcy so young makes me think he may just be that wild

You definitely did well with Nick Suzuki, he is pretty good. I can't think of one trade that Poile ever won besides Forsberg, maybe Calle Jarnkrok for Legwand. Nashville couldn't find a decent forward at a World Cup match.
I mean we traded Eliis for Phillipe Meyers and Nolan Patrick and then turned around and flipped Patrick for Glass. Glass wasn't great in Vegas and he has already got sent down. This is frustrating because we lost a decent prospect to waivers the other day already.

That Forsberg trade may be one of the most epic trade wins in recent memory. But I feel you.

Yeah but for one of those, he has lost so many other trade. He’s given first round picks for Paul Gaustad and Ryan Hartman. Unforgivable.

That's nice and all but the Kraken is pooping 💩 the bed tonight. So much so that McCann has been demoted to the second line 😳 😒
Now GTFO of here with your Seattle infatuation why don't you! Fawk!
Yeah they aren’t playing well, but that’s ok.
All of the differences are refreshing.
Don’t be upset because your 2 Kraken players aren’t doing much.

Hi there, long time listener first time caller. I'm a Leafs fan. If you guys would send me like... I dunno, one bottle of Kraken rum? One or two? That'll already be like 10,000 more things than the Leafs have ever done for me and I'll be a fan for life. For serious. Sign me up. Who's your best player? He's my favorite now. I love the way he... does stuff. I also like to do stuff. GO RUM!

-checks notes-

I MEAN KRACKEN!

-sheepish grin-

Gimme rum.

Is this becoming a trend 🤔 😳

Pavel Buchnevich's positive night turned negative rather quickly.

Minutes after scoring his first goal as a member of the St. Louis Blues, the officials gave the forward a match penalty for headbutting.

Late in the first period, Buchnevich elbowed Arizona Coyotes forward Andrew Ladd in the chin. That prompted Lawson Crouse to confront Buchnevich, who then headbutted Crouse.

Here's another look:

The NHL can rescind match penalties, and the league almost always reviews plays that elicit that level of punishment. A player who commits a headbutt is susceptible to a fine or suspension as commissioner Gary Bettman deems appropriate.

Crouse returned to the ice in the opening minute of the second period and scored a goal of his own just under four minutes into the frame.

This was the NHL's second headbutt-related incident in three days. On Saturday night, Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson appeared to initiate a head-on-head collision with Edmonton Oilers forward Kailer Yamamoto. Andersson got a double minor for roughing and elbowing. He avoided a suspension but was fined.

Video emerged the next day showing a hand getting in the way before the head contact.

Buchnevich is in his first season with the Blues, who acquired him in a trade with the New York Rangers in late July before signing him to a four-year contract.

CBS Sports reported that the suspension was for using a fake vaccination card.

After a slight delay due to a lower-body injury, Mike Hoffman is set to make his Montreal Canadiens debut against the San Jose Sharks on Tuesday, head coach Dominique Ducharme announced.

The Canadiens signed the 31-year-old to a three-year, $13.5-million deal as an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Hoffman suffered the injury before going to Montreal and was initially expected to miss the first week-and-a-half of the regular season.

That puts his recovery slightly ahead of the originally targeted Oct. 23 game against the Detroit Red Wings as his debut.

"The body feels good and I'm ready to go," Hoffman said Monday before receiving the green light on Tuesday, according to The Athletic's Arpon Basu.

Hoffman was on the third line at morning skate.

The Canadiens have been held winless through the first three games of the season and have scored just three goals. The typically productive Hoffman has 189 career goals in 545 contests, 67 of which have come on the man advantage. The Canadiens' power play has gotten off to an 0-for-11 start.

Forward Adam Brooks is also expected to make his Montreal debut on Tuesday in the place of the injured Jake Evans. The Canadiens claimed the 25-year-old off waivers from the Toronto Maple Leafs last week.

Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m. ET.

Colorado Avalanche star Nathan MacKinnon will make his season debut Tuesday against the Washington Capitals, head coach Jared Bednar confirmed, according to The Associated Press' Stephen Whyno.

The forward registered two negative COVID-19 tests and reportedly flew to Washington, D.C. late last night, per The Athletic's Peter Baugh. The Avalanche confirmed his arrival Tuesday morning.

MacKinnon missed the Avalanche's first two games of the season after testing positive for COVID-19 over a week ago.
