NHL Thread Because There Isn't An NHL Thread

The NHL just released the updated schedule for the Northern Division. 10 Habs games have been moved around, as well as 3 from other teams to make space in the schedule.

First big change: Habs are playing Edmonton on Tuesday, not Ottawa.

The Stanley Cup Playoffs will be delayed by at least one day.

The NHL released its latest round of rescheduled games on Sunday, and 19 contests have been either moved to a new date or given a new start time. Two regular-season games are now slated for May 11, a date the league previously earmarked for the first day of the postseason.

Most of Sunday's updates were due to COVID-19 postponements, except for a game between the St. Louis Blues and Los Angeles Kings that needed to be pushed after inclement weather prevented the Kings from flying out of Denver earlier this month.

Here are the games that have been rescheduled to a different date:

Habs got the go-ahead from the health authorities to resume activities as of now, so they have a practice tonight and should hopefully be good to go for the game tomorrow night.

The Habs took to the ice and KK is off the COVID list and practicing. This suggests that the player that tested positive is Armia. No word on how he's doing but I guess he has to be out a minimum of 10 days from first appearance of symptoms, assuming any fever is gone for two days and the symptoms are improving.

Yes that was pretty much confirmed on SN.

Pittsburgh Penguins netminder Tristan Jarry is being evaluated for an upper-body injury after leaving Monday's game versus the New York Islanders, head coach Mike Sullivan announced.

"I don't really have a lot of details for you at this point," Sullivan said. "I can't even pinpoint when it happened. It was something the medical staff felt strongly enough to take him out of the game."

The 25-year-old started the contest, but he didn't return after the first intermission. Casey DeSmith entered the game in relief and stopped 19 of 20 New York shots as Pittsburgh secured a 2-1 victory.

Jarry entered Monday's game with a 14-8-2 record and a .909 save percentage in 2021.

The Penguins are dealing with several injuries to key players, as Evgeni Malkin, Brandon Tanev, and Kasperi Kapanen are all sidelined.

Oh boy!

The Buffalo Sabres coughed up a three-goal lead to the Philadelphia Flyers before falling in overtime on Monday night, matching the worst losing streak in NHL history at 18 games.

The 2003-04 Pittsburgh Penguins previously owned the dubious record. Buffalo can set the new bar or stop the bleeding Wednesday in its rematch against Philly.

The Sabres led 3-0 following two periods and completely collapsed in the final frame. After the Flyers cut the deficit to 3-2, Buffalo missed this chance at an empty-net dagger:

The Flyers responded and tied the game with 1:29 remaining. Ivan Provorov then completed the comeback 32 seconds into overtime.

"It's embarrassing. This whole stretch is embarrassing. Any team in the NHL, that's a win. ... That's on players. The 20 guys on the ice. That's brutal," Sabres defenseman Brandon Montour said postgame, according to Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News.

The Sabres haven't won since Feb. 23, going 0-15-3 in that span. The NHL's record winless streak (ties included) is 30 games, which the Winnipeg Jets set in 1980-81.

Man, the Islanders interfere A LOT

I feel like they started letting go a lot compared to earlier in the year. They always do that and I think it's dumb because it starts advantaging low talent teams over those with talented players. Not making any specific judgement on the Islanders here though.

Just watch Pittsburgh will claim him

The Philadelphia Flyers placed Shayne Gostisbehere on waivers Tuesday, the team announced.

Gostisbehere, 27, has two years beyond this season remaining on his current deal, which carries an annual cap hit of $4.5 million.

The 5-foot-11 blue-liner ranks third on the Flyers in average ice time this season (20:01) and has contributed five goals and 11 points through 25 outings. He missed the opening two weeks after testing positive for COVID-19.

Gostisbehere stormed onto the scene with a 46-point rookie campaign in 2015-16 to finish second in Calder Trophy voting. He ranked eighth among all defensemen in goals (37) and ninth in points (150) between then and 2017-18.

He's seen his game slip in recent years, however, particularly in the defensive end, according to Hockey Viz's isolated impact tool. (Red, or positive, is good in the offensive zone, while blue, or negative, is good in the defensive zone.)

The Flyers, who rank 30th in goals against per game (3.56), have won consecutive contests after losing five of their previous six.
