With that NAD, or similar, I’d just use its internal, gotta be better than the Pluto, and save for better!

Here's a NAD C316bee factory refurb for $314. I think some folks around here have had good experiences with Safe and Sound:

And, the internal phono stage on the NAD is decent. I would recommend starting with it and seeing how you like the sound.
