Live Show Withdrawal Support - Photos

YES SUMMERFEST!!! I only made it up there once while in high school, 1999 (I think). One of my friends dad’s drove us up there to see Guster and Ben Harper. It was a great time. I gotta see a water skiing squirrel. The only bummer was we were only 17 so we couldn’t drink but it seemed like such a party. If I lived closer to Milwaukee, I think I woulda lived there every summer during the 2 weeks it went on.
I've seen an insane amount of music thanks to Summerfest. I hope it happens this year as they moved it to September.

Great idea! I hope videos are OK.

One of my favorite videos I took. I was fortunate to see RHCP super close up and caught this. Captures the human aspect of the show. FLEA and Josh were doing their pre-Californication jam and it looks like Josh tells FLEA his bass is out of tune.

Julien Baker on the rooftop of a rooftop bar in Ogden, Utah.

This was back in 2016, before Julien had turned 21. Given that she was underage, she was not legally able to enter the bar, so she had to climb a fire escape to reach the performance stage. Best of all was that earlier that same evening, I ran into her in the local record shop and had a chance to chat with her about her then blooming career.

Pyschic TV at Churchill's in Little Haiti. Genesis P-Orridge and Edley O'Dowd were scheduled to do a DJ set at the Art Basel in Miami Beach. I think they fished around for a gig and Churchill's always plays the weirdos, so that's were they wound up. Gen was really, really short in person, but very intense -- wandering through the small but packed crowd before their set (it was like a one-night showcase with maybe 10 or 12 'experimental' groups -- started at like 4pm and PTV3 went on at like 10 or 11).

Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso UFO, Feb 2019. Face- and soul-meltingly amazing. Also, very, very loud. Like, this was as close as I could comfortably get to the stage. Kawabata was and is amazing and it is a travesty he's not better known in the US or even within guitar circles. Although one of the nice things about them being lesser-known is that the club/bar this was at was basically filled with folks who knew and loved AMT already. I sat at the bar and sipped a shockingly expensive drink and a drunk very friendly dude and I chatted about Kawabata's lesser-known works for half an hour until their support group started.

Opening was this band that I did not get any good pictures of, but were also amazing, Yamatanka // Sonic Titan:

Thats amazing. Would you provide more detail on what was said, what was her disposition? Such a cool story.

Just a smattering of some shows I went to from July 2019 to the shutdown. I miss this. Thanks for starting the thread!

No real surprises. She was sincere, open, humble and gracious. I gushed a bit, told her I'd driven an hour and shown up four hours early to be sure I'd get into the venue, only to find that it didn't even open until almost show time. The proprietor of the record shop was close to Julien's age and she and Julien got on like old friends.

Couple more photos:
