while compiling this it belatedly dawned on me whata huge year this was for me. Don't think anything from, say, 1976 wouldve cracked my 1979 Top 10

While The Jam's Setting Sons is a step down from All Mod Cons (1978) and Sound Affects (1980) it is worth it for Saturday Kids and Eton Rifles. Strangely enough one of their best singles (Strange Tow b/w Butterfly Collector) came out in early 79, about 6 months before Setting Sons, but was not included on the album

I think Butterfly Collector might be my favourite song from of all Weller’s guises. I kinda also love the habit of the 70s/80s British punks/post punks having loads of non album singles lol!
