I just installed the DuckDuckGo extension, and it noticed two tracking cookies on Needles And Grooves's home page:
  • googleads.g.doubleclick.net
  • static.doubleclick.net
Is this expected?

not that i'm aware of. perhaps @RenegadeMonster can shed some light on it.

i know just those two web addresses being in that post made it so i couldn't even view this page on my phone and i had to disable my adblocker on my computer to post this.

@apassant

We don't have any tracking, analytics or advertising installed on the site.

googleads.g.doubleclick.net

This is from Google Marketing Platform and tracks referrals. It could have come from another site or even google search if you followed a link to Needles and Grooves. We don't have analytics installed here, so we are not tracking what links bring you here, and what links you follow that take you off the site.

static.doubleclick.net

I can't find much info on this other than it's a google bot.

It's also possible that a Extension installed in your browser is injecting the tracking. Lots of extensions do sly things like this.

Charming. I'll dig through Firefox then. Thanks for the info.
edit: I see what you mean. AdBlock wouldn't let me reply either.

Oh yes. That's another issue in it self.

uBlock origin and other ad blockers also blocks the ability to reply to this thread because the word "Advertising" appears in the thread title, and therefore in the ajax calls to reply.
