    RP2 cartridge upgrade advice

Check out 2juki on eBay - he offers great deals on Japanese cartridges. I've purchased my last two carts from him (Denon DL-103R and Audio-Technica AT33PTG/II) without any issues.

    Recommendations for upgrading my system

Yes. They're a steal at that price. Do it!

    Cartridge too close to record.

There are two similarly-named settings that can cause issues with the cartridge riding low relative to the vinyl, both of which also have a real effect on sound quality: Vertical Tracking Force (VTF) is what's been described throughout this thread. It's basically the weight of the cartridge on...

    Vinyl Me Please Anthology

I find that I get fast response to Twitter DMs. My copy has also been stuck in "pre-shipment" since the 30th.

    Vinyl Me Please Anthology

I reached out to VMP on Twitter earlier this week. They told me that the Zamrock anthology would start shipping out toward the end of next week.

The Dark Side; Digital audio equipment recommendations and setup.

Please double-check my understanding, but I believe the Solo only has one input. That will work fine for mono records but not stereo. The 2i2 can capture in stereo.

I use a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. It works great for the price.

You'll need an ADC rather than a DAC to do needle drops!

    Vinyl Me Please Anthology

I reached out to Egon on Instagram. He confirmed that the Fireballs album was sourced from tape, but the rest of the records were sourced and restored from vinyl. That's not uncommon for reissues of these types of records, and I'm sure they'll sound fine, but it's disappointing to see VMP's...

    Pioneer PLX 1000 Questions

A thick maple cutting board works well too. Really, anything that's stable and dense should do the trick.

I ordered from Apos Audio, and they told me that their fulfillment center in Shenzhen is closed until February 10 due to the coronavirus outbreak. I'm with you - I bet it'll get delayed further into the month.

The Dark Side; Digital audio equipment recommendations and setup.

I ordered a Topping D90 based on the review from Audio Science Review. It won't arrive for a couple of weeks given the situation in China, but I'm eager to hear how it compares to my Allo Kali + Piano 2.1 stack.

Cables - one of the most taboo subjects in audio

Yeah, given fakes, Audiogon is probably the best option for used gear.

Cables - one of the most taboo subjects in audio

I'm a cable skeptic, but here's a pro tip: if you're going to buy exotic or expensive cables, buy them used. A lot of audiophiles are cable obsessed, so you can pick up barely used cables at a fraction of their retail price on sites like Audiogon or even eBay.

Record cleaning - what's your method?

I use an Okki Nokki with Audio Intelligent #6 fluid. For particularly dirty records, I let them soak in the fluid for a few minutes before vacuuming. I tend to let the vacuum do 3-4 full passes over the record. I also sometimes need to use a microfiber cloth to dry off the outside edge of the...

    Shrink wrap

This is exactly what I do too. Storing the record outside the album sleeve really does prevent ringwear and seam splits. I also like that it adds a small amount of space between covers on my shelf - it makes it easier to read the text on the outward facing side of the sleeve. Plus, it's a lot...

    Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Storf mentioned that it's the stereo mix in his December AMA on Reddit.

    Vinyl Me Please Essentials

I'm bummed that the Aretha is stereo rather than mono. I have an OG mono, so I'm guessed I'm not that bummed, but it's still disappointing that they went with the inferior stereo mix.

    Vinyl Me Please Anthology

Those $5 copies are AAA and sound great (when they're in good condition)! ;) I would LOVE to have an AAA release of the original Chic mixes of Diana, though.
