I had it on the wrong ring. Thanks!

Just got the MP-200 on the table and it sounds excellent. I hear a little better separation and warmth than the MasterTracker, but am reserving judgment until it's broken in. I get paranoid when aligning a new cartridge. I used the MoFi GeoDisc as a guide, and it sounds great. The channels are...

Hana is a consensus go-to. I don't have an MC pre-amp (yet), but I want to try it one day as well. Just need to pull the trigger on a Darlington upgrade to the MP7. Waiting for a sale/deal. I will report back on the Nagaoka. I love the sound of the 110 & 150 stylus I had years ago, so I'm...

Steve did not quote me. I want a replacement for the existing stylus, no upgrades, which, per Angsty's comment, could be in the ~$200 range. That said, my Nagaoka MP-200 arrived yesterday and is going on the deck this week. Quick question, because I can't recall. How do the anti-skate rings...

OK, I'm sending my old cart to Steve for review. Interestingly, the MasterTracker is on a very good sale from MusicDirect right now ($500)

Thanks for the tip (pun intended). I think I'll take advantage of this, even though I am getting my Nagaoka. Having a re-tipped backup is better than having a worn-out cartridge sitting around. Any thoughts on what a re-tipping might cost? I'm hoping not more than $200.

The sound still seems good although I feel like the bass is a bit more boomy with less clarity. The main thing I notice is that the cartridge is physically riding lower because the stylus lays flatter these days. It’s definitely a bummer that the MasterTracker doesn’t have a replaceable stylus...

I've had my StudioDeck + MasterTracker for a little over three years and starting to notice a lot less tension in the stylus. The cartridge probably has 500+ hours on it at this point, which is about what the cartridge is rated for. I have a Nagaoka MP-200 on the way and can't wait to try it...

New ultrasonic vinyl cleaner in the works: Humminguru

Interesting, I've always read that it should be rinsed.

New ultrasonic vinyl cleaner in the works: Humminguru

I love my Humminguru, have been using G2, and purchased Reverse Osmosis water as my cleaning agent. Just recently, I installed a Reverse Osmosis water tap in my house, and I was thinking this might open some options for me. Tergikleen is my preferred cleaner, but the one issue is that it needs...

I ended up replacing my sleeve, so I'm getting great temps now, but the blanket tip is genius *chef's kiss*

Interesting. I'm using Signal Cables' Analog Two cables from the deck to pre-amp, and pre-amp to amp. Here's what the site says about their capacitance. For pF/meter, is that essentially pF/ft x ~3.3? Signal Cables Analog Two Specs 22 AWG stranded Bare Copper Insulation - Foam FEP (Teflon)...

The Darlington Labs thread (New 2024 models!)

Ooh, I'm tempted to upgrade my MM-6 to an MP7B and get a matching black face plate

At the risk of hitting some landmines, what does MC provide that MM doesn't? My understanding is that MM has come a long way.

Yes, I have to sweeten the Tone on my amplifier to get a bright sound, which is mostly what I think I'm looking for. I don't disagree, and hearing limitations are real, but I've heard sound engineers mention the harmonics that high frequencies produce in the audible range. It's a theory...

Hey all, I need some help, and some of this is going to be basic and subjective, but I am seeking opinions here. I love my deck and setup, but I would like to improve sonic clarity on the upper end. I'm over 40, have been blasting music all my life, and went to too many rock shows without...

Anyone tried the Sumiko Amethyst with the StudioDeck? I am considering it as a replacement for my MasterTracker and stats-wise, it's very close except: It weighs 1/3 less. 6.5g vs. 9.7g Frequency Response is wider. 12Hz - 35kHz vs. 20Hz - 25kHz Stylus is a different shape, Nude Line-Contact vs...

It seems to fluctuate actually. I'm testing with the thermometer that came with it, inserted into the fold and High is reading 130 only. Not sure the sleeve is working well...

Nothing noticeable, no. The only thing I can think is that I added some velcro wraps around the protruding notches to try to keep the VinylFlat tightly closed. I wonder if these are having a counter effect.

I am having a hard making this black 180g dish flat. On medium, my pouch is getting to about 127 degrees F. I put the record in for 4 hours yesterday, let it cool overnight and there was zero change. Would you go up by 15 or 30 minute increments for one like this?
