On mine it's imperfect grounding of the cables. Usually poking them a bit manages to more or less get rid of it.

then what cables should i buy for grounding.. but i also heard that grado has this hum a lot so i wanted to know the issue (im trying to be a budget audiophile.. cheap but high quality DAC, headphones, cables, and amps)

Its the grounding on the UTurn, not the cart. I would try replacing your TT cables. There is no grounding post on the UTurn, it grounds through the right channel if I'm not mistaken. Pick up a pair of good/decent cables from Amazon, if your using the UTurn cables that came with your deck, anything would be an upgrade ;)

........you could also try plugging the Orbit into a different outlet.

what cables should i get...

though it could be because its connected to a power strip because i dont have enough plugs for audio

It might be the power strip, maybe a better power strip might help, not 100% sure. How much can you spend on cables?

I have a grado on mu Uturn with blue jean cables. No hum. Blue jeans are pretty cheap on Amazon.

@marshall @AnthonyI i'll probably do both in the future.... its just i dunno what would be ideal.. and for the cable stuff i was trying to stay away from the snake oil level of someone like audioquest

I would agree with @marshall on the Blue Jean cables.

so blue jean cables and finding out what are good power strips (mine was pretty old)

I would try the power strip first to be honest, that might take care of the problem or at least minimize it enough to where it doesn't bother you........definitely a cheaper attempt ;)

(i just dunno what would be a good one... i'm just using an old surgestrip and i only needed just like 1 more plug than my wall already had)

I’m not sure a power strip will help. The table is internally grounded. Question - how close is the table to your speakers or a TV?

I only mention it because when I had my Orbit I was getting the same sort of thing and a replacement strip helped, then moving it to an outlet directly got rid of it completely. Just a thought before spending more than you have to ;)

Also, if your equipment is all close together - try getting the table as far away from the rest of it as you can. I get some hum when I take pictures, I’m assuming it’s the phone messing with the lack of shielding on the cart.
