You know, I've been getting that question a lot lately, and my answer is: "not overtly."
And I have gotten that question about all three singles so far from people I know.
With "Figurines," I was going more for a Jayhawks vibe, with "No Sound" I was thinking more Ted Leo.

"Back Of My Mind" was an accident that came out of a composing exercise I do sometimes where I look at either an album cover of a release I am not familiar with and try to imagine what the first song sounds like, OR I will pick a song title on an album with a song I know and try to imagine what something else might sound like.

When I wrote the song, I had FINALLY (after years of not owning it) picked up the album Totally Crushed Out by the band That Dog. The only song I knew on it was "He's Kissing Christian." When I looked at the tracklisting, I saw that track three was called "In The Back of My Mind." I tried to imagine what a song with that title would sound like that would then lead into "He's Kissing Christian."
