Was just thinking that the last six 2019 releases I bought were on CD and all sound fantastic, but a recent record I grabbed sounded dull and lifeless (I put on an older record to make sure it wasn't a gear issue).
Yeah it's not the gear, everything else sounds fine. Just a bad copy or a bad press. Unfortunate because I specifically hoped this one would be good and I'm sure they're out of replacements most likely. Back to trying to find the 2 LP 45 ORG pressing I suppose...
On top of all the logistics issues this is the most frustrating thing with VMP, I’ve had more issues with their pressings than all other vendors combined and they’re probably less than 10% of my collection. I’m thinking I’m out too after my current 3 month sub is up unless they pull out something I really want.
@dhodo I think the VMP IS that cut. It just sounds like a bad pressing. The mastering is good underneath... except for what sounds like right channel tape bleed... which is odd..
@dhodo you're right. It's not. Deadwax is just a bunch of stamped text, no KG. I swear they told me it was his master. Well either way, this is honestly one of the most lousy sounding pressings I've ever gotten from them. Noisy, some right channel distortion, what sounds like unintentional tape bleed in the right channel occasionally, pops. Crap.
Such a bummer! I hope you get a replacement and that it was just an unfortunate copy! Would absolutely suck if it was genuinely a poor sounding pressing...
