I used Sling up until the point that the ESPN feed became unwatchably slow. All the other channels were fine. Hulu Live was our next option and that was really solid. I've heard PlayStation TV thrown around as another option in my office.
If your ISP has data caps, remember that turning of the tv doesn’t mean the stream stops. Also, if data gets throttled after using a certain amount, picture quality might suffer.
For my money, I'd get anything powered by Android TV, especially if you already have an Android phone/use Google devices in the home. Integration is seamless. Android TV
Watch your plan price and datacaps like HRD said, particularly if your cable provider is also your ISP. Place we have is basically a monopoly, so they cut your “discount” on your data if you drop cable. My savings evaporated pretty fast once my data went way up.
We have Comcast bundled at the moment with unlimited data, that's the part I really have to chk into and see what that internet plan ends up being without the bundle. Aggravating because we have Netflix, Prime and Disney + with Hulu is around the corner, so Comcast needs to go, outside of internet.
I should have added my TMobile Hot-Spot is my WiFi (25$/mo. = 100GB at 4G speed per month then 3G once i pass 100GB) and it works great with hardly any issues ever!! It runs my cable (Youtube TV), Netflix, etc.
So yea definitely check with your ISP if you are keeping a WiFi plan!
I have an older TV with a Roku. I have an OTA digital antenna for watching local stations and the picture is crystal clear. I have Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu (that I got very discounted with my Spotify Premium account). I also have my parents' cable password so I have HBO Go, FX, ESPN, essentially any other cable channel I want to watch. I find that all of that makes for more TV watching than I need.
