So the short is that my brother who I live with (along with my sister in law and neice), is getting moved to a different location for work. It's about 2 hours from where we are now. I can't afford to live on my own and I can't bring my job with me, so I have to go back to Atlanta where I can at least look for a job whole staying with my family and not worry about rent.

Long version: about 2 or 3 months after I moved here in January to live with them, my brother said this might be happening. At that time, I still didn't have a job yet so if it was gonna happen it didn't really matter. I could just continue job hunting when we all moved, and I still had the money I saved for moving in the first place. Then, his job said "when it happens you'll get a 6 month notice!". (cont)

Cool. I got a job with Carolina Soul (a record store that a lot of folks here may buy from on eBay, especially in the Blue Note thread!), and I knew that I'd have some time to figure out my own situation should brobro and fam have to move. (cont)

Then, his job said "there's nothing ready for you yet, so it'll probably be the beginning of 2020 at the earliest!". Sweet, even more time! I told the owner of Carolina Soul about it, and he said he'd be brainstorming ways to keep me on should I have to move and/or can't afford to stay in town on my own. Awesome. (cont)

We re-signed our lease, which ended in September, for just a few more months in case they did end up moving. So I'm thinking I have plenty of time to get settled in my new job which I LOVE, and I'm getting trained in all these places (including their physical store location, I originally started in their warehouse for online sales), (cont)

, I'm catching up my bank account from all the money I lost paying rent for months without a job, and I'm happy as can be. Albeit, very busy, because my commute is far and I'm working as many hours as I can. (cont)

Cut to two weeks ago, brother's job calls him and says "okie dokie, we need you to start in (city 2 hours away) on November 6th! K byyyeeee!". WOAH. We literally just resigned our lease. It became official on October 1st. So now we have to get out of it. The only three ways are... (cont)

1) pay the full thing up front to break it - NOPE we're poor 2) Gamble and tell them we'll pay however long it takes for them to find someone else to take our spot, meaning we could pay nothing or we could pay 6 months - NOPE, too risky and we're still poor 3) Transfer to another complex in the other city that's owned by the same people - YEP, only option. Unfortunately, to do that transfer, they need a month notice. Which is... literally that day. They need to pick out a unit, THAT DAY, which means they need to know if I'm coming with them or not. I don't have a chance to call the owner of my job because 1) it's the weekend 2) he and his wife JUST had a baby not two days earlier (cont)

3) We would have so much to confirm in such a short amount of time, like my job security, my pay, how we'd make working remotely for them even work smoothly... so I had to basically just say I can't come with them.(cont)

If I said I could, and then it turned out I couldn't bring my job, then I'd be paying rent in a new town with no job again. But this time I have even less money than I did the first time because I spent months looking for jobs already while paying rent. (cont)

So at this point, my options are either to try and stay here on my own (which I can't afford as it stands, and I'd have to find a new apartment extremely quickly), or move back to GA. I talked to the owner of where I work again, and very long story short, there wasn't a way where I'd be able to stay here and make enough money to live even scraping by paycheck to paycheck. (cont)

Working remotely from Atlanta was also not really an option, and working from the other city I'd have moved to probably wouldn't work either.

So, I'm moving back at the end of next week. And the main result of me moving here was losing $2,000+ out of my savings account over the course of the past few months! Woohoo! It was an adventure though. I'm glad I did it. I'm just not excited to job hunt AGAIN.

But that's my tale. Thanks for reading. Sorry for all the conts!
