My buddies and I in the same situation loaded up all of Mastodon's Crack the Skye. The pool table was ours pretty quick.

Was it that bluegrass-like cover of Gin n Juice? Are there more? Is there a whole sub-genre of Snoop country tunes that I don’t know I should be avoiding?

Yeah, the Gin & Juice cover. I remember even when I was in college rolling my eyes pretty hard to that one and that was when it was new.

Yeah, I gotta be honest, I like the Gourds cover of 'Gin & Juice', and I'm definitely no bro. If I remember correctly, Snoop was a fan of it. The band themselves grew to dislike playing it live at shows tho because it did attract a certain type of fan when it got popular. But they were a fun band with a lot more to offer than that one cover.

yeah I graduated from HS in 2000. Ironic covers of hip-hop songs by pasty white dudes was almost a genre unto itself. Remember this gem @Melt Face Molly Drop @Aron?

The late 90s/early 00s was also a time where it seems like bluegrass covers of tunes was kind of a thing. The Meat Purveyors on the Bloodshot label did a ton of them.

Right! The "Pickin' on the..." Series. I had Pickin' on the Dead on Compact Disc.

Hahah yuuup, tbh I loved that one too. Probably because it helped me memorize gangster rap songs.
