Yeah, like 10 years ago. They long ago fired all offending member of the band and have been steadily making amends ever since. It was a shitty situation, fueled by youthful ignorance. They're grown up, they've learned, and they are back.

still probably wont go because i left one artist for bad stuff they did years ago and I should be consistent.. i was just surprised to see whirr were still around

Nick from Whirr did an interview a while back that covered everything and showed they learned their lessons and can grow and change. It was really insightful and put them back in the column of a band that I listen to again.

I don't think that one incident should be held over them forever and if enough time passes we have to allow for reconciliation. Also it seems enough people are on board with them being back now.

@wokeupnew ok that is more forgiving. i that one artist for bad stuff thing was jesse lacey, and he didn't really apologize for what he did (even if some lyrics on science fiction could be considered that)

Yeah, this is one I've also been hesitant to embrace. That interview was really good, and I've referred to it more than once. Bassett has been credited in production on several other releases in recent years, so it made me wonder if/what reconciliation ocurred.
