I used to have to have annual hearing tests due to my job in the Air Force, and have a measurable hearing loss. A proper test requires an insulated room and proper equipment. Don’t put any stock in a test not performed under the supervision of an audiologist.

That sounds like a question for the equipment recs thread. Aka The Oracle of Hifi Guy. It’s like the Oracle at Delphi, but sounds way better. 😁

My tinnitus is really bad just now, so I feel your pain. I try to avoid using headphones, but if I do I tend to go for noise cancelling ones, as I can drop the volume. I also avoid in ear headphones, which tend to hurt my ears a lot more.
