Went straight to the top ten. Olivia Rodrigo surprised me there. I'm unfamiliar with her music apart from the singles.

SOUR is really good and I have high hopes for GUTS.

the only real surprise for me is seeing kara jacksons admittedly incredibly good debut so high up.. it feels too soon to put an album as one of the best debuts ever when it just came out 4 months ago

also calling madvillain a debut is a HUGE stretch since you could put operation doomsday on it

My biggest issue (beyond the exclusion of Arcade Fire’s Funeral,Wolf Parade’s Apologies To The Queen Mary, and Chance The Rapper’s Acid Rap) is that they included Purple Mountains and Bill Callahan; both are fantastic albums by artists I love, but those are not really debut albums.

Dave Berman last few Silver Jews albums and all of Callahan’s albums released under his Smog moniker were basically solo albums already.

@TenderLovingKiller® you can also make those same points about madvillain and run the jewels and even shabazz palaces... and plus you can technically say with chance that technically her proper album would be the big day and if we counted first mixtape it would be 10 day (still good choice)

@duke86fan for me Madvillian and RTJ work slightly better just because they were collaborations, but yeah none were anyone involved’s debut album.

Good point of 10 Days being Chances first (mixtape) album probably why it wasn’t included.

@duke86fan I'd say Shabazz Palaces is enough of a departure that it is very much its own thing.
