Driving a U-Haul from FL to the Pacific NW is not an option. No desire to do it and wouldn't be much cheaper from what I'm seeing online

I did but they were not one of the big names and also they lost something!

My advice is you get what you pay for. I moved my mother across the country, ponied up serious cash, and had a great experience. When we tried to cut corners (since it was our money) it wasn’t worth it.

Also watch those records. If you do it in the middle of the summer the truck/warehouse gets unbearably hot. Hopefully you’re moving in the fall. And if you pack them right they’ll be safe.

PS my father was a mover so I have lots of experience.

Ship the records USPS Media Mail to yourself. Ship the other personal items via USPS normal shipping or UPS ground. Buy furniture when you arrive at your destination.

@gouis it'll be in the next month or so. But they'll be in the sleeve city boxes. whatever that's worth.

Ship yourself USPS. Probably cheaper than a flight.

@High Rant District 500 albums media mail? Sounds extremely expensive. And brand new bed set and mattress so it would be way more costly to replace and work won't help reimburse that.

60 records in a box is probably around 50 lbs so around 30 bucks. Eight boxes would cost around $240. Maximum package weight for Media Mail is 70 lbs. Rates are at https://pe.usps.com/text/dmm300/Notice123.htm#_c059

But would that be safer in transport?

If you pack the records well, I'd think they'd be fine, way better than some random moving company that may park the truck in blazing heat. If something goes wrong with the bedroom set, so be it, but if you love those records, much harder to replace. I think Media Mail is great in general.

All that said, I'd just drive it myself.

I get that but if you aren't driving solo, two people keep trading off and it's fine. Also, it isn't storm season yet so good time to drive.

Yeah Florida sucks.

I imagine if a box is packed tight then warping can't really happen so there's that at least.

We moved from IL to WA State 6 years ago and we used ABF UPack.
It worked pretty well for us and was reasonably priced you may wanna check it out.
