I'm struggling to think of any bands but there's some albums that, despite me loving them, I just never ended up getting. Joy as an Act of Resistance by IDLES is one that comes to mind.
It's not about the medium, it's about the music. If you are a big fan of a band, then you should probably have all or at least most of their catalog in some form.
I'd say you should own them in some kind of medium, otherwise you're not really supporting that artist. Not that Dylan needs any help, but it applies to any band that you might be a big fan of.
I’d say if you don’t have at least 3 bootleg series releases and a crazy ultradisc Blood on the Tracks that owning all the worst Dylan albums is a shallow boast @Murfocakes
All I need now Joe are Saved, World Gone Wrong, Together Through Life, Christmas In The Heart, Before The Flood and At Budokhan. Winner winner, chicken dinner
You have none of the bootlegs? Don’t count your chickens until they’ve hatched. I think in keeping with the spirit of your insanity so far that you need Saved and Creepy Christmas In The Heart next...
I’ve been listening to a Dylan album every day chronologically and today was Pat Garrett. I’ve only 2 albums breathing space until Before The Flood. Must get more. Must compete with myself now Joseph has quit.
I own music for artists I very much dislike (looking at you Robert Palmer album that found its way into my collection) so you can certainly not own music for artists you love. It doesn’t matter. None of this matters. I’m so lonely...
Edit: I also feel I should at this juncture tell you to eat Arby’s
