just to clarify. Spotify has been a shitty company for a while but the latest issue has passed the threshold of what is acceptable. It took me a long time to convince myself to join and I did so just this Christmas. my month trial is up and I won't be following through with it.
A bit like tidal it’s not as exhaustive as Spotify or Apple Music but equally it’s not Spotify or Apple and I didn’t find any holes in their catalogue that affected me.
I second @Joe Mac ’s Qobuz recommendation. The only hole I really find in their catalogues is occasionally some hip hop is missing. Or pretty obscure music.
Been an Apple Music subscriber since it was still “Beats Music”. have always liked the features and UI more than spotify and that they pay artists more.
@kvetcha yea the cloud music functionality is great and why I still have Apple Music as well...I've been using Apple Music/iTunes pretty much since it came out, so all my MP3s are stored on there. It's why I never went to Spotify, but I do find myself using Qobuz more now that I'm working from home full time. Apple Music pretty much gets used for the car now.
@MikeH if qobuz gave a damn about their CarPlay app I’d still be with them. Until such a time as I’m back on the commute outside of my car I’m only streaming through CarPlay when driving so it really was a pain!
@Melt Face Molly Drop I actually use an app called SongShift. It cost me a few bucks but it does a great job transferring playlists between various services.
I've always been a Apple Music user. This does not surprise me. Spotify has been in the news recently for several other shortcomings. They promised some things and a months to years later they never delivered.
Ugh, I feel so inundated in Spotify. They obviously suck, but I have over 200 playlists I've made over 9 years now. Any switch would be a big undertaking.
I never activated my Apple Music free trial so I'll be testing that one for the next few months. I've been thinking about switching off Spotify for a while now and I still have a bunch of my music in mp3/digital form on my computer so it will be nice to have it all in one place.
