I'm still sad she's leaning into a sound that sounds like a lot of indie rock out there today and mostly abandoned her guitar

I think there's a real evolution in sound from the last album and I loved that album and I love the growth here.

Also, I don't find myself listening to a lot of indie rock so I'm not observing what you are here.

Is it me or is her voice super raspy? I'm all for rough around the edges sound but this is a complete 180. I can see what @wokeupnew is saying. It kinda blends into the background now like other indie artists.

These almost feel like demos (vocal wise).

@Melt Face Molly Drop I think it always has been, but because it's being made the star of these songs as opposed to Lush where the instruments were more balanced, it's much more noticeable.

That and I think her vocals were cut in a more LoFi manner which made them less front and center. When Youth Lagoon did the same thing and brought his vocals to the front it was equally jarring. It strips the atmosphere from the track IMO.

@Melt Face Molly Drop You're right. I'm re-listening to a few songs on Lush and there's far less "raspy-ness". The lofi sound hides that a little bit.

@Melt Face Molly Drop her voice was always on the raspy side. The major difference here is the production, it's more polished and the introspective lo-fi textures with chords appears to be gone 🤷‍♂️
