Interesting how routine it is to check some forms of ID for certain purposes, but other types of identification checks are an infringement of privacy and individual rights. And why would expired ID revoke your right to be in a bar? It's all about your age. Clearly, you were of sufficient age when the ID was issued. Since when does age roll back? Doesn't help the dumb bartender stereotype.

It's all because of liability and the establishment not wanting to risk having their liquor license suspended or revoked. They are concerned that a expired id could be being used as a fake, by say your brother or something like that. When I was in retail management and we sold alcohol, corporate policy wouldn't allow us to sell alcohol to someone with an expired ID.

Also I remember going out to dinner with a group of friends, one who was recently married and just changed her last name. She still had the temp paper drivers license form the DMV while awaiting the permanent one to come in the mail. They told her they don't accept the temp ID and wouldn't server her.

Right, but it all boils down to massive lack of common sense all the way down the line. Basically, you all need a license to drink. The US gets bogged down by the most inane things sometimes.

@RenegadeMonster i get the liability, but it’s all up to the discretion of the bartender. He didn’t check other peoples IDs that also came in. The dude obviously thought I was underage, as I am like 5”7’. He just was waiting to be a dick. Super embarrassing honestly.

Everytime I see Amyl and the Sniffers I can't help but think Butt Sniffers in my head. And I like it.
