This may be an unpopular opinion but It feels really good to sell records. You don’t have to put off listening to them anymore. Once I started selling, I bought less. I’ve sold probably 200 by now. Time to restock my discogs store, lol.
@Kris yeah i have close to 1100 records, so it’ll be a daunting task to list everything. I have all of them in my collection, but not listed. I wish there was a way to list them in bulk.
Do you still enjoy the process of listening to records? If so, I'd go with selling the excess and keeping the stuff you really like. Once done, just add in the stuff you really, really like.
@Thackeraye the problem is I have very little self control and an addictive personality, so it’s not as simple as that. If I still have the turntable and records, I’ll always be tempted to buy. I was fine with my extensive CD collection before getting into records. I do enjoy records more, but not that much more to make it worth it.
I support you. Take some time to think about it before you do anything! I regret selling many records and actually bought back a chunk that I cleaned out once.
Yes, this is a vinyl orientated forum, Yes, the bulk of hardware discussions are going to revolve around analogue hardware and this is the way things should be. But... It's foolish to suggest that digital isn't a useful part of our audio systems and that some prudent purchasing decisions can...
I think we all been there at one point or another for differing reasons in life, mine being a divorce. If it's putting financial strain on a healthy relationship thats understandable. Dont do anything hasty. With vinyl prices going up and apparently inflation close its not getting better. My suggestion is don't buy "everything" on vinyl unless your really want it, it's unique, or sounds incredible!
