I hear you - whenever I open a package I have my fingers crossed for no seam splits or sleeve damage, then hold my breath with every spin. QC is just so spotty across the board.
Yes padewan.... soon, the student will become the teacher....
This is basically my life bruh.
I have 118 albums from AP/Mofi/PP/SC/ORG/MOV and I can guarantee that number is going to jump significantly because I'm so sick of dealing with these other labels garbage...
And LPs just keep getting more and more expensive. Price is inflating and QC is deflating rapidly. Unfortunately anything by a new and more indie artist is just about guaranteed to be littered with QC issues, and if the LP is clean then you still just have to worry about the mastering + vinyl being garbage and noisy.
I'm about to go back to my AT-LP60 so I can experience vinyl the way its supposed to be experienced. Pain free and naive.
I'm going to have to take your lead and literally just focus on audiophile labels and keep my ear to the ground for the odd great indie pressing. Think I'm going to start selling off a lot of my mediocre pressings to fund a high end DAC that I'll use for all my modern day crappy pressing tunes
