I'd probably be worried to but depends on the basement I suppose. You'd have to do some kind of sound proofing + I'd be worried about leaks.

A listening set up should feel comfortable and cozy, which I'm not sure can be accomplished with an unfinished basement. The acoustics would also be all over the place and echo-y.

Obviously it's not ideal and would be somewhat temporary. Just kind of wondering since there's very little time to look and invision where to put my setup before you have to submit an offer.

If you plan to finish the basement it'll be more difficult if you move stuff down there first. I'd lay down a plan to finish the basement and maybe put a temporary listening station elsewhere, but that's just me.

I also wouldn't necessarily hinge your home buying decision-making process on a listening room. Those can always be retro fit into a space.

@dbarila no, unfortunately! Middle floor of three. You do have a nice view though!

No such thing as a basement in south Louisiana , however the friends out of state have had some leaks and flooding issues. So maybe make sure that’s not a large risk ?

It’s never going to be anywhere near optimal, but with some cheap baffling/proofing panels, rugs and furniture you could probably get something passable.

I’d be worried that I’d get too damp. Plus the acoustics will likely be pretty bad.

Ooh. Yeah. I forget my basement doesn’t get wet, but that’s moisture is gonna be no bueno for records/jackets and anything made of wood and particularly mdf.
