I do this with all discs I send internationally but I'm not certain how that works when you're selling them through cogs...

Risky if it ends up getting damaged. If they end up sending it back I believe you’re on the hook to pay something. It also may be unlawful (or dishonest in the least). To me it feels like when someone asks to send PayPal via Friends and Family vs Goods & Services.

With all that said, I’ve done it for the few buyers that have asked me to and no issues arose.

Though sometimes they’ll ask me to mark the package as under $49 and it irks me if the item is well over 100. Might get screwed with insurance on that one.

Yeah, I mean I’ve undervalued records, put what I paid for them, but I’ve never had anyone ask for it to be marked as a gift. So I’m on the fence, I’m not sure of the implications.

I’ve no issues with marking it as a gift. I’d be more hesitant to declare a lower value if it was an expensive record.
What country is it going to?

They recently overhauled the import vat / tax for uk:

Basically if vat is paid at source (only for goods under £135) then there should be no problem. Gifts need to be under £39 to be exempt from any import vat or duty.
