Okay fine, here's a quick explanation. How would you like to buy this gif for 6 million dollars?
Yes? Great. Now you "own" a free gif that anyone on the internet can also use for free like they always have. Congratulations, you and everyone else who's involved in this should be fired into the sun.
I am really looking forward to the day when Grimes and Elon Musk move to their rich people only space station and the leave the earth to the rest of us.
@TenderLovingKiller® also sadly lots of artists getting taken advantage of with it...paying to sign up for services/NFT markets thinking that they too can sell a gif for millions. Or people stealing other peoples’ artwork
It’s a progressive idea for sure. And an idea being laughed at similar to how Bitcoin was. If (when) these prices come way down I could see it becoming an interesting tool for digital art that’s incredibly easy to copy/pirate.
@Melt Face Molly Drop good idea. In fact it's such a good idea that I just sold your comment as an NFT to a third party for 4.8 million. It will take roughly 82 KWs of power just to make that single transaction (this is true, that's more than 4 days worth of power for the average household) and you will receive none of the profit (this is also true in a significant amount of cases).
