I have a number of Japanese pressings from the 1970's and they all pretty much outshine the domestic versions.

@Yer Ol' Uncle D just wondered because minnie ripperton japanese was actually fairly cheap and i wondered if i should have just bought one of those or go for a much cheaper original press (and i mean the in groove says they are too bright)

I’d take a Japanese reissue over an OG American press of most things. They are sometimes a little brighter but a lot of them were kept in very good shape, flat with little to no surface noise. Obviously there are some exceptions but I love the Japanese pressings I have.
