THIS IS MY CURRENT STRUGGLE. I didn't sell mine for $180, but I sold a couple and have no mailers and have no idea where to find just 5 or so of them. Hoping Half Price Books can hook me up?
I’ve been looking to buy just one mailer but that doesn’t seem like an option. I was wondering if cutting and reconstructing a box from a non-LP mailer box would work. Or I wait till tomorrow when I *might* be getting something I preordered in the mail.
The record was VMP’s Saba - Care For Me. Excellent album. But I don’t play it on vinyl enough to warrant keeping it. Plus I was trying to make money. I’ve done this a few times, thinning out my collection like this - making a hard decision to get rid of something I love but never play. Anyway, I went well below most asking prices ($300!) and didn’t think it would sell. It sold in like five hours...
I'd be very careful that the reconstructed box you use is going to work. Because it's a $180 album and all and that buyer is probably expecting it to be a flawless delivery.
Unsolicited advice: Take small strips of cardboard & tape em over the outside corners as bump protectors. Besides (in theory) extra protection, it projects that extra care was taken in packaging. Also....pls insure it if you didn't plan on it (I'm nervous for u here).
& ship the record outside of the jacket so it doesn't split. W/ sealed records I give the option to have me open it & remove the record from the jacket & explicitly say that if that option is not taken then I'm not accountable for any seam splits in transit (which I think is quite fair).
Yep I have insurance on it. And usually when this happens, I make sure it’s extra protected. I guess I’ll wait till tomorrow and see if I wind up with a mailer. I bought the insurance and shipping label already and upgraded them to priority at no extra charge cause ya know...it feels like the right thing to do
@dirty hands You just ask for it. Some, like Priority (I believe) have a set min mount w purchase but you can add more. Media doesn't have any inherent but you can ask to add it. It's negligible; like, a couple $ to add up to like $100 or something & you can pay to add more. Never filed a claim - maybe someone has insight into how that works?
@dirty hands On the internet! It must be true! (Honestly I seem to recall some chatter about it last year at some point - something about him wanting to press more).
