I've never been to Santa Cruz and my wife only went once as a kid. It's about a 2 hour drive from here.

Buy tickets for the mystery spot in advance, they are super cheap.

There is also a steam train ride/tour thing that you can do through the mountains which was pretty nice

Make sure and watch The Lost Boys first. And Us.

the boardwalk does movies on the beach every summer, and they usually show the lost boys

@tvham I haven't seen The Lost Boys in forever. Didn't realize it was set in Santa Cruz. I did think of Us though. I'm going to try to avoid any hall of mirrors.

We hit up Del Mar last weekend. Our first trip too, and brought our 6 month old puppy. Gotta say, all-in-all, we felt very safe. Everyone was masked up in the hotel lobby and social distancing at the beaches + restaurants (that were take out only save for a few breweries that moved seating outdoors). No anti-masker altercations, just everyone enjoying a nice summer day

I love Santa Cruz. Have friends that went to school there. Hope you have a nice time!
