i’m not gonna try and justify the price because by any measure it’s high. but gigaton is easily the highest quality studio album pressing and lp packaging they’ve put out. on par with the great phish reissues of recent years that retail for similar prices.
Pearl Jam charges a lot because they can. Also, they're all older and families that need taking care of, kids to put through college, etc. Not to mention Pearl Jam, Inc employs a ton of people from marketing to PR to engineers and events professionals. Prices are higher because it costs a lot of money to keep that machine running at the level the fans demand. This price seems totally reasonable for what it is
Ultimately they’re making a decision that they’ve determined works best for them, you’ll make a decision that works best for you and the world will still turn. I haven’t got mine in the mail yet, but did do the bandbox $10 promo with a $10 kicker for the new gigaton album so was able to get it for a price I could justify but there’s no way I’d pay more than $25 for it.
