The Grado does have a warmer sound and could be the cause of the bass. I think the platter/mat is more for stability and can give a tighter bass response not necessarily a boomier bass. What record/track are you listening to?

Might check your VTA too. If you aren’t riding level you can get pronounced bass (or treble depending if it’s high or low).

It's probably just a matter of Billie being bass heavy and the Grado picking up more of it. But I'll second the chain of standard questions to check tracking force, VTA, etc.

unless you're seeing this on records where you wouldn't expect it, it's probably the pressing. I run a fairly balanced system and the FKA Twigs album was rattling the walls.

No VTA on the uturn but even with the acrylic platter you will need a mat.
