The May 2025 Spin Challenge - Music, Music, Read All About It!

I have a very vivid memory from when I was about 7-8 years old (maybe 9) of my Aunt driving my sisters and I to our grandmother's house in her Mustang. We were driving up a hill, windows down and Light My Fire was blaring on the radio. (Remember terrestrial radio would play long songs? I'm old...)

Whenever I hear the song I am transported back to that moment, wind blowing in my hair (I was in the back seat on the driver's side)

Very similar memory. My dad bought this car when I was 12 or 13. Gave it to me when I got my license.

I still have it.

This isn't 'the car' - it's garaged, covered and hasn't seen the road in a good bit - but it's exactly the car...

My parents had a pair of "65 1/2" Mustangs - Mom's was light blue, Dad's was dark blue. I used to think that I remember the cars, but it's much more likely that I've seen photos and have created a false memory.

Day 10 - The Real Frank Zappa Book - Frank Zappa with Peter Occhiogrosso

Frank Zappa - Hot Rats

I am not a huge Zappa fan, though, to be fair, I have never explored his discography beyond the surface level. This is the lone Zappa album in my collection and it was a PIF, I really enjoy it and I swear one of these days I will dedicate some time to dig into Zappos music deeper.

My grandfather bought one of the first 1000 mustangs off the assembly line, but its lost to time.

My Doors/Mustang memory is listening to Riders on the Storm w/ my dad in his Mustang II hatchback on 8-track. The Mustang II had as much to do with a Mustang as the new SUV EV Mustangs. Mrs. ImTheOcean drives a red convertible ecoboost mustang on the daily. Love those cars, would love a vintage one someday.

Day 10 - Play some Zappa or anything by someone who played with him.

I saw Frank Zappa just once - on the pier in NYC. This album brings me back to high school - we'd walk deep into the woods and have a bonfire and somehow we always sang Bobby Brown. I found this OG on my bday many years ago at PREX and had to have it. Still know all the lyrics.
