I’m loving both! Definitely my most anticipated album of the year rn. I never expected to fall in love with her the way I have but she just scratches an itch I didn’t even know I had lol. RMIV my most listened to album ever on last.fm and this seems to be lining up to be just as good as that one.

Also the product placement in that first music video is hysterical. Get your bag but that is kinda wild lol

4 months down, and April was another strong month in a superbly strong 2025! I have another 4x4 of my favorite albums from the month for you. It was another strong month for new metal releases, there were a few surprises, and a few LIVE albums snuck in as well. And, of course, two of my top albums of the year dropped in April, too. Can 2025 continue on this incredible hot streak?! Looking ahead at May's lineup, methinks yes 🔥 But until this Friday, enjoy this collection of standouts from April.

Messa was a band I was late to the party with discovering. I only recently discovered them after the release of their 2022, 3rd LP, Close. After hearing that one and listening to their back catalog, the Italian quartet's new, 4th LP here, The Spin, was near the top of the list for my most anticipated albums in Q2. The Spin was the first album I spun on this new music Friday, and it has definitely set the bar for the week, for April, and for Q2 (that being said, we are only at the second week in Q2 right now).

Q1 Update

Total 2025 releases (albums/EPs/mixtapes) listened to as of May 1: 77

As I mentioned before, I'm set for listening to around 200-250 new releases this year, and I'm ahead of pace.

I have a fair quantity of favorites from Q1 already. I already see more to look forward to in the coming months. Saw four of these in concert this year already. Japanese artists comprise an unsurprising portion of the collage, with the newest from Ichiko Aoba (青葉市子) making a strong argument for my fave of 2025 crown.
