Record Store Day 2024

yeah i think dan was on the vinyl guide last year and let the cat outta the bag on this one. I thought it would just be a random date , sorta glad it's RSD in a way

I have most of the OGs, but one of the first shows I ever saw was in 96 or 97. 14 years old, mudhoney at a small club. I saw Mark Arm just sitting at the bar, and like the dork i was then and now, went up to Mark and was like "you guys got me into the stooges, could you sign this?" was a mudhoney 7" i just bought at the merch table. Mark was super nice and didnt treat me like a kid. He was telling me even then to seek out the fun house sessions, Im pretty sure it was still booted at the time

They're all super nice. We used to see Steve Turner at the Goodwill clothes by the pound and Mark is everywhere.

I did talk to Dan about the recent Dinosaur Jr shows out here. Night one, Mark cane out to sing a pair of Stooges covers with them.

A first glance, gut reaction for me of potential targets - Craigie, Laufey, Jenny, and Stars are my four most likely right now.

John Craigie - Let It Be Lonely (Another in the Craigie does the Beatles series, always a joy)
Noah Kahan - I Was / I Am (This will be the one that brings all the popheads to the stores like the Olivia/Noah pairing last times, the Maisie Peters feels like a potential nightmare pickup too)
Laufey - A Night At The Symphony (Just a perfect pairing of artist to backing music)
Jenny Lewis - Puppy and a Truck (completionism)
Willie Nelson - Long Story Short... (the long overdue Phases and Stages repress is nice too)
Stars - The Five Ghosts (FINALLY)
Sister Rosetta Tharpe - Live in France (this one I may wait for reviews on)
South Park: The 25th Anniversary Concert (ok probably not but...)
Remi Wolf - Live at Electirc Lady

I am pleasantly surprised with the list.
Here is my first glance want list:

All depending on prices of course and this could change.
  1. Malfunkshun - Olympus Awaits (RSD First)
  2. Witchfinder General - Death Penalty (RSD First)
  3. Apocalyptica - Worlds Collide (Deluxe Edition) (RSD First)
  4. RE: This Is Why - paramore (RSD Exclusive) *
  5. David Bowie - Waiting in the Sky (Before The Starman Came To Earth) (RSD)
  6. In This Moment - Star-Crossed Wasteland (RSD First)
  7. Various Artists - Lost In Translation (Music From The Motion Picture Soundtrack) [Deluxe Edition] (RSD Exclusive)
*I may have to get this just for the one track... I do not like some of the remixes, but maybe they will grow on me. Dunno if I want the double pack or just single disc since I have two copies of TIW.
That Malfunkshun is the only thing that really jumped out at me

Can I say I loved this album in the late 90's.

was this the one that featured...

Between this and The Duncan Sheik release I could easily relive my time stuck in my 1989 Mercury Topaz with only an FM radio tuned into 101.5 WBNQ home of the Twin City's hit songs!

I might actually be interested in that Lou Reed tribute album
