It’s partially a mystery, particularly bc they played Bend, Eugene, and Seattle in the meantime. Part of the reason, though, is that they used to do the PacNW in summer, so played outdoor venues, and Portland Meadows (‘98 and ‘99) stopped being a concert venue in ~2006; started again briefly but...

Sun Ra box arrived today. I needed 6 more Sun Ra discs like I needed a hole in my head, but it’s a nice package with an excellent/thorough booklet. It’s also important set from my perspective, so who am I not to do something foolish.

They’re all (or mostly all) on Spotify w “jazz dispensary” I do not have The Golden Hour from (2024), and that’s also chill but, again, none are jazz-focused like this year’s.

Most are funk/soul focused, not jazz. I have seven of them, with eight on the way (Night Lights that I got luck w/ for $33 on Discogs), and closest to this year’s in terms of vibe would be Hotel Jolie Dame.

I won the first entry lottery tonight. Spot 43. Ended up on rail, which I’d never really considered doing due to pain in the ass factor. But this made it easy. Glad I did it but prefer a better vantage for Kuroda’s rig, although it was cool to watch it from below. Really cool to be in front...

Hmmm. I think people brought them to Sphere, and that’s the last show I remember enough to have a clue about. They did not have them, but I was also at n4 so they may have run out of tubes by then. I’ll be on floor tomorrow and Section 20 Saturday; then floor in Portland. Enjoy the show(s)...

I think this was posted in the pre-order thread, but worthwhile here, too. I’m assuming they will have no trouble improving the sound of the original, which I owned and wasn’t terrible but not great either...

This is infinitely more interesting/enjoyable than the endless parade of vinyl variants on pre-order. Bonus for The Alarm vid. Saw them soon after that video in 1984, opening for The Pretenders. Epic show. The Alarm were really, really good then, and Pretenders were off the hook.
