That’s a good Ray Charles album but what’s the reason they picked it? Same with Sextant. Both great but probably should have been in the Classics track imo. Acid is a great essentials pick imo though.

I'm glad they picked a crate-digger Ray record. That's a real "lost sounds found" underrated gem.
For December they always do a "Classics-leaning" Essentials ROTM. Of the Herbi records not in the Anthology, Sextant I think is the most Essential one left, that was a great pick, probably my most anticipated Essentials ROTM this year, either than or Sly.

seems like GMP is very changing... i don't think they'll do the contest anymore but more outright teasing like they did in the booklet

I’m probably in for all three essentials and country (maybe not sweet revenge). The other tracks don’t do much for me unfortunately. Might hop in and snag ZZ Top. Looks like it is indeed AAA. I’m not sure if that was confirmed before or not.

Totally in for Ray Barretto. Excellent pick there. Love that they're doing a Ray Charles album too, but that one sort of feels like a "We really want to do Ray Charles and this is the album we can get" sort of pick. I'll probably stick with it nonetheless. On the fence with Sextant as it is a wonderfully wild record for sure. I just don't know how often I'd actually spin that one, though. Might have to swap for ZZ Top that month.

I let my sub lapse on 9/1. Assuming the 'free records' offer does not extend into 2024, what are the chances that, if I re-join in December, some of the Q4 ROTMs will be among the free record choices?
