Cartridge Alignment

That’s always been mine too, but your chart has me thinking…..
If most of your collection is post 1990 then B may be a “better” way to go. As you can see, the Baerwald - Lofgren B has the lowest distortion levels on records that aren’t cut close to the spindle.
Lifted the graph from Fremer’s review of the Rega P10.

What’s got me thinking is the far lower distortion with L in the midsection of the playing surface. Also, MoFi sets to L at the factory.

That is what I assumed you were referring to. L is Fremer’s preferred alignment for what that’s worth. 😁

So MoFi chooses Loefgren over Baerwald at the factory? I guess due to the length of their tonearm.

I've used Baerwald so far, but set to Loefgren today. Using a Lyra Delos.
I cant really tell the difference, not had any issues with Baerwald.

Weird, considering that their own GEO-DISC is Baerwald only. Maybe they should consider marketing a MoFi TT version. They can offer it as an option with every turntable they sell for $39.99. $10 off MSRP (y)

I see your point, but the GeoDisc dates back to the 1980s, long before the current ownership of MoFi.

I read it somewhere, can’t remember where though. @AnthonyI verified it with Jon Derda, National Sales Manager at MoFi.
"
  • set-up/alignment geometry used by MoFi for cartridges on the “+” models prior to shipping is Loefgren B. (e.g. Baerwald; Loefgren A or B; Stevenson). We also use the Dr. Feickert protractor for set-up"
From Greg Fitzgerald at MoFi

So this backs up the info that @AnthonyI got from Jon Derda.

Should come with a tool that allows you to correctly set overhang, rather than trying to aim at the pivot with your eyes. Similar to Dr.Feickert's protractor.

I'm tempted by Stevenson because IGD is so annoying and modern records don't account for it in their track sequencing, but maybe it doesn't matter all that much in the end.

Looking at this, I’m definitely going Loefgren B, especially considering that’s what MoFi uses.
