The football thread RenegadeMonster is looking for: NFL talk

I disagree on the very last point for sure
I would think that is a bit hyperbolic except when you consider that the Denver Broncos had to use a WR for a QB last year and still got 112 yards of offense.

Right now The Bears have 51 yards of total offense and 53 yards lost on sacks with 3:43 left in the game.

KC could have easily been 3-0 too. Those games have all been super close.
I just got back to my hotel from the Chiefs game. They’ve played way too many close games over the last couple of years. Even against teams they should blow out.

Just heard Andy Reid went to the hospital right after the game. Supposedly he’ll be okay. Is the Super Bowl loser curse real?

I'm a die hard Bears fan and think Justin Fields should ask for a trade..................the O line should be embarrassed. This couching staff is going to screw up another quarterback.
That’s what I am afraid of. Fields is not Trubisky, if he had a legit coach; I think he could develop into something special. Why would Nagy not adjust the game plan at all to accommodate his athletic gifts? He should have been rolling out on every pass play and they should have ran the ball with Montgomery a lot; especially when they were only down a touch down for almost 2 and a half quarters. Montgomery has proven productive when given the opportunity and a commitment to the run opens up the possibility for play action. Nagy is too stubborn to be a good play caller in the NFL and needs to hand over the reins to Bill Lazor immediately.

The McCaskey’s are too conservative to fire a coach mid season but they should and I bet if they did you would see an improvement.

I was a huge fan of Nagy and what he did with Alex Smith with the Chiefs. He turned one of the most conservative QBs into one of the best deep ball throwers by his last year in KC. But he was never really the primary play caller, though Reid gave him some playcalling duties by the end of his last year.

He seems to be running the Bears offense as if they have more talent than they really do. You can play that way if you’ve got the Bucs’ skill positions or the Chiefs’. But they really have one legitimate receiver and a good back in Montgomery. And I don’t know how you drafted Fields and not have an offense tailored for him even if you knew Dalton was going to be your starter to begin the season.

Also, I don’t understand how Pace and their scouting dept can be so good at finding defensive guys (with the exception of the CBs this year) from anywhere (draft, FAs, trades), but be so awful on finding offensive talent.

Yeah. I am surprised Nagy is as bad as he is at it. Sometimes it’s good to have a coach who is just the head coach and I think that might be the case with Nagy. He seems to be well liked and he says the right things but he really has has yet to demonstrate that he can call a game. Things were so bad today though that I genuinely question his ability to even game plan.

Pace was a scout for the Saints and a Defensive End in college so I can understand why he would be better at scouting D than O but there shouldn’t be such a chasm between the two.
