Hip Hop

Damn. The new Tyler is gonna take awhile to absorb. This thing is naked, purple and on 5 hits of acid levels of out there.

Solid chance it winds up one my favorites from this year.

So, it seems to me like Tyler gave us a concept album based on the arc of a failing relationship if I'm catching the words and in-between little narration/sound bytes like between puppets and what's good. On top of that the sounds and tone change as the relationship starts to go downhill. I've only listened once through and I'm about to go back in but wow! It starts off all sunny and daisies then by what's good (after bing used like a puppet on the track prior) it's like WHOA!

EDIT: I really like it after listen 1.

Lol.

Good to see one other hardcore 9 fan around here then who knows his shit and has a better memory then me lol

I'm happy to have you all around too. Reminds me of all this great music I listened to years ago but have forgot about. You have me listening to this Yukmouth - Godzilla album now.

Earlier someone reminded me of this dude Sandman from Minnesota and I have been listening to what I can find of him on YouTube. Nobody really acknowledged it here but I'm happy to have then reacquainted with it. He does that melodic / fast rapping so you should go back and listen on my post if you missed that too

This just came in:
"38 Spesh’s “5 Shots (Deluxe Edition) preorders drops TODAY MAY 17th @ NOON EST. Features Elcamino, Eto & Che Noir. “Shootout Splatter” edition limited to 150 copies. “Black 357 Mag” edition limited to 357 copies! Don’t Sleep!"

Yukmouth only has like 2 vinyl releases.. His first album and some random album.
Going by his release schedule it looks like he the kinda rapper that spits quantity over quality which is a scary thought.
I think I will use your recommendation and buy the first album he ever did tho :) its usually an artist best anyways.

I listen to alot of music no one listens to or forgot about lol

After my first listen I cant tell if I really like Igor, or if I hate it.

It's 100000% a concept album about a relationship that starts happy, goes sour, then ends abruptly. The last few tracks are Tyler's reaction to the breakup. It's definitely not a traditional hip hop album, or a Tyler album. It's like a vaporwave, soul album, with hip hop elements woven in and out. I'd also say there are only 2 tracks that can stand alone outside the concept so I can see how alot of people may not like it if they go in with certain expectations. I really like it though! I wanted a true concept album from Tyler. The Wolf>Bastard>Goblin "trilogy" is cool, but this is fresh!

I expect a couple of my friends that I told to listen to be like wtf is this, but it's already growing on me

But
Wolf/Bastard/Goblin will forever be his best music.
Your overly optimistic if you think artsy pants tyler will go back to his roots

Yea its definitely not a traditional hip hop album, I agree with you there. Which kind of threw me I guess? I do like some of the things going on in this album, I just dont know how much yet. It was interesting enough that I'll go back to it a few more times before I make my mind up, so it's got that going for it at least

I'm not saying in there anywhere that I want Tyler to go back to talking about rape and kid shit. He's grown up now which is why I love this album. I have been saying I wanted Tyler to dive in a true concept album head first and he nailed it with this.

Also, just realized the person he is with is in a relationship and is seeing Tyler on the side. In New Magic Wand Tyler considers killing the persons partner so they can be together.....It just keeps getting better!!!

As much as I love the trilogy, I love it even more when artists emerge the comfortable and grow into something different - even if I might not like the new them.
People change and so does their music - and it’s nice to see in what directions that can take you as a listener.

I’m still unsure about Igor - but I’m grateful for it. And if that’s how he feels at the moment, I’m happy that he’s able to share it with us and make it art. Even if I like it or not.
At the moment, I’m just happy that Igor is that trippy.

But what about us peter pans who hate when artist change like tyler did.
I loved tyler until after wolf where the style changed up :(

I feel you there, there’s a lot of artists who changed over the course of time and it’s been hard to let go.
But hey you still got those sticky pudding albums to sticky pudding with - and isn’t that just a good thing to have?

Disagree, I never wanted a whole album of some of those lyrics. Personal taste of course.

Yeh I understand how people who aint horrorcore fans might be turned off.
But I lived in the horrorcore scene a long time so to me it was a light album lol but dark enough for me to love it.
The I dont give a shit vibe was brilliant.
