Vinyl Me Please (store, exclusives, swaps, etc)

I feel you, I love when their products turn out flat, quiet, and on time but man how rarely does that happen? Yet I still can’t let go. Not sure why...definitely letting the positives outweigh the negatives.

Just received four of their albums from Bespoke Post and I’m so nervous about checking them out. They been sitting there since Thursday. What other company brings about that sort of stress and anxiety towards opening the actual product? Can’t think of one.

@MikeH , c’mon we all know how well VMP keeps their word. :ROFLMAO:🤭

Yeah QC is an issue but I was looking at the curation itself too and for a company that sells itself on that their picks, save a notable few, are pretty low down on my regular rotation...

I don’t think that’s true. 1 month was available when I signed up and after I cancelled, I checked to see if it was available and the only options were 3 and 12 months. I might have signed up for one month for OutKast, but thanks to PIF and no option that could be afforded with my store credit, I wasn’t tempted.
They get rid of one month every once in awhile usually when a big release like OutKast happens. They want new customers to be on the hook for multiple months. VMP stated (so take it with a grain of salt) that previous members would be able to re-sign up for a one month sub. I haven’t tested it out since I haven’t rejoined but that wasn’t my understanding.

As a former member, I think it’s gone for good.

Started noticing that late last year. I really scaled back on my exclusives after that. Will say that Flying Lotus, Van Morrison, and De La Soul was a killer streak and get frequent spins from me.

I have more fun tracking down great pressings of albums I love rather than being FOMO’d into buying albums.

I’d add Mavis to that and say that her album and Van get a lot of spins. The other two are far less regular but I’m glad to have de la soul and I that I think that “Until The Quiet Comes” in the bundle is a miles better album than the one that they picked for AOTM...

I’m having much more fun taking recommendations from people here because I know whose taste I trust and can respectfully filter out the rest 😀

I always felt like they were the masters at creating FOMO, I definitely bought less before I joined forum, kept buying needlessly when involved in their forum, since that forum has gone things have calmed down again quiet a bit and I feel much better for it now

I’m not so sure about that. I was grandfathered at the $75 a quarter and CS lead me to believe I would pay full price upon return (when I cancelled... I think as a last ditch effort to try to change my mind)... I think the grandfathering of monthly was more aimed at you staying on board than allowing you to bail and come back, which incidentally was why they axed it anyhow (and honestly, it’s one of the few sound business decisions they’ve made recently despite how people may feel about it).
Interesting. I haven’t tested it out with rejoining for the one month sub since my credits are finally out so I’d assume that your info is correct over mine!

I absolutely love Until The Quiet Comes and really wanted the VMP version but already have it on vinyl and couldn’t justify buying it. I have a special place in my heart for Cosmogramma though as it was my intro to FlyLo. I prefer UTQC and maybe even You’re Dead now though.

Until The Quiet Comes is definitely sneaking its way into my favorite FlyLo spot. Some real beautiful songs on that one.

Oh, yes, Mavis is great too. My copy’s off center and Im not sure how much that fucks up my needle so I don’t spin it quite as often as I’d like to.

Only other ROTMs that get spun regularly are Fiona Apple - Tidal, Miles Davis - Sorcerer, Nina Simone - Nina Simone Sings The Blues, and Feist - Let It Die.

A majority of my classics get somewhat frequent spins. My hip hop ones a lot, lot less because the folks I live with (not fans).

EDIT - Oh yes, Silvertones - Silver Bullets gets lots of plays in the summer.

Yeah I mean the ones I spin most regularly are Van and Arctic Monkeys and that second one wasn’t curation for me it was handing me an album I already knew I loved but on vinyl!

Blossom Dearie also gets lots of spins for me since my gf is a fan and it’s a good weekend record. Van Morrison gets more than I thought it would as well.

Nice for you to say that about my curation @Joe Mac but please think of other’s feelings. I know how wonderful my suggestions are but it’s not a competition.

Here’s a sneaky wink emoji because we all know it is a competition

;)

Yes all of these are good.

Yes so is Arctic Monkeys.

Yes Blossom as well. So we all like the same thing. Good things. You know what I don’t like?

Bad things.

Don’t make that laugh face at me sir!!!

I used the one month to sign up for Outkast. What I am wondering is if I wanna sign up in the future will I have this option open again.
I'd say this is pretty definitive.
